Kantar: 76% of smartphones sold in Japan in October were iPhones

Apple's main market is in the US, but it turns out that proportionally the company has the largest fanbase in Japan. Analyst firm Kantar is reporting that Apple's iPhones accounted for a whopping 76% of smartphone sales in Japan in the month of October.

61% of smartphones sold through the country's biggest carrier, NTT DoCoMo, were iPhones, reports Kantar.

It's not clear how much the iPhone 5c has contributed to the total number, there are plenty of reports of low demand (outside of Japan anyway) and reductions of manufacturing capacity dedicated to the 5c.

In the US at least, the iPhone 5s outsold the 5c by 40% in October, according to the analysts.
