There was a time when political parties used to give caps, arm band, t-shirts and so on to its workers, during rallies or election time, which has party symbol or pictures of leaders embossed on it. BJP has gone a step further and have placed an order for 2000 smartphones from SmartNamo - a China based handset company started by a group of Guajarati businessmen.
"BJP has placed an order for 2000 smartphones from SmartNamo that are likely to be delivered in December at the BJP headquarter in Delhi and then it will delivered to select BJP workers," sources familiar with the development have said to The Mobile Indian.
The person further added, "The SmartNamo smartphone will have pre loaded wallpapers, apps, pictures of Narendra Modi - the prime ministerial candidate of BJP."
It is not clear for which specific smartphone the order has been placed for but as of now SmartNamo has announced many handset for India that includes Saffron One (16 GB and 32 GB), Saffron Two, Namo Saffron A-209, and Smart Namo E43.
The SmartNamo Saffron One comes with a 5 inch IPS FHD display, 1 GB RAM, Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean operating system, 1.5 GHz Mediatek MTK6589 Turbo processor, 3150 mAh battery, dual SIM , 13 megapixel primary camera, 5 megapixel rear camera, and 64 GB expandable storage. It is currently available for Rs 17,700 from Snapdeal.
The Saffron Two is available for pre-booking from Snapdeal too and comes with 6.5 inch IPS display with full HD resolution, 13 megapixel primary camera, 5 megapixel rear camera, dual SIM, 1.5 GHz MTK6589T quad core processor, 2 GB RAM, Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean operating system, and 3150 mAh battery.
On the other hand, Smart Namo E43 has a 4.3 inch touchscreen with 480x800 pixels resolution. The 3G phone has Android 2.3.6 operating system, 1 GHz Spreadtrum SC6820 processor, 512 MB RAM, 4 GB ROM, WiFi , and Bluetooth . The smartphone has an 1800 Li-Ion battery which claims to provide 30 days of standby. Further, the smartphone is said to come with some "E-ink display technology" which, the company claims, consumes low power for higher battery back up.
Namo Saffron A-209 has a 4 inch IPS LCD touchscreen, a dual core 1 GHz processor, 2000 mAh battery, WiFi, Bluetooth, dual SIM, 3G capability, Android ICS operating system, 2000 mAh battery, 4 GB ROM, 512 MB RAM, and 32 GB expandable storage slot.
