Intex Mobiles, an Indian handset manufacturer, has announced to release a phablet with an octa-core MediaTek chipset in the coming weeks.
According to a release issued by Intex today, the phablet will feature a 6-inch IPS LCD display with HD (720p) resolution. It will be powered by an octa-core 1.7 GHz MediaTek MT6592 system-on-chip. ThisMediaTek's True octa-core solution was announced last month and it seems that India is one of the early markets to get the octa-core SoC based products.
According to Intex, the phablet will have 2 GB RAM, and will come in 16 GB and 32 GB internal storage options. The phone will also house a dual Yamaha 1420 speakers to pump out great quality audio.
At its rear, the Intex phablet has a 13 megapixel camera with auto focus for good quality imaging while in its front there is a 5 megapixel camera with wide angle image capture capability. Besides, the phablet has WiFi , FM, Bluetooth and GPS .
"Apart from its sturdy hardware, the phone will be loaded with plethora of other innovative features and applications to enhance user experience. Beating the mechanism followed by existing Octa-core processors of only activating half of their CPU cores at once, True Octa-core activates all eight cores simultaneously enabling a device to perform exceptional multi-tasking for providing a superior user experience,” Intex claimed in the press release.
Intex has not shared the brand name or the price of this handset. But based on the features added, we can expect the smartphone to cost above Rs 15,000 approximately.
