Videocon mobile services, has slashed its GPRS rates by 90 per cent in Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
The new base rate for GPRS data for Videocon users will be 1 paisa per 10 KB from the earlier 10 paisa per 10 KB. This rate will be charged to people who do not have a data pack, or have exceeded the bundled benefit of any pack (e.g. if you have 1 GB pack any usage beyond 1 GB will be charged at 1 paisa per 10kb). This new data tariff will be applicable from first week of July, 2013 onwards.
Arvind Bali, director and chief executive officer, Videocon Mobile, said, "This 90 percent tariff reduction will help increase data penetration across segments, which will translate into stronger benefits for the brand and will help us engage more subscribers in coming times."
Recently players like Vodafone, Airtel and Idea Cellular have announced similar price cuts, but except for Vodafone and now Videocon all of them have reduced the rates only on certain packs and not across the board.
