China based mobile phone brand Gionee is planning to launch smartphones with a metal unibody design.
While talking to The Mobile Indian, during the visit to the Gionee manufacturing facility, William Lu, president, Gionee Mobiles, said that Gionee, after the Elife E6, is now planning to have a premium metal unibody based Android smartphone for customers. This will follow the same design strategy as the Gionee Elife E6, and because it is made of metal the device will offer a premium appeal to its users as well. We are unsure if the same is applicable to the Gionee Elife E7 or not, but the device is surely going to be impressive given the rest of the Elife series.
When asked about the adoption of Qualcomm Snapdragon as the processor for Gionee devices, William said, "We surely are looking forward to having the Qualcomm Snapdragon powered devices coming from Gionee, ahead." However, there was no concrete timeline shared for this adoption.
With the kind of design the Gionee Elife E6 has, it comes at a cheaper price point than most other flagships out there; and upcoming devices with a Qualcomm processor and a metallic unibody design are expected to be good, but how well they manage to impress users will be known in the coming days.
