LG will not pull out of the sub Rs 10,000 smartphone category in India


LG has been launching phones at different price points in India, starting at Rs 6,000 and going up to the latest flagship smartphone LG Optimus G Pro for Rs 42,500.


Soon Kwon, managing director, LG India, said to The Mobile Indian, "India is one of the most important markets for LG and we will bring Android based smartphones in different price brackets in the country. Our current range starts from Rs 6,000."

He added, "By the end of 2013 we plan to launch around 20 smartphones and tablets in India and some of them will be priced below Rs 10,000."


On launching smartphones based on Windows Phone 8 Kwon said that currently his international team is evaluating the Windows Phone OS and nothing concrete has been finalised. He added that whenever LG decides to bring Windows Phone based smartphones it will bring them at different price points.
