Amazon has introduced a new Kindle Paperwhite eBook reader model with built-in light and better e-paper display. This new Kindle Paperwhite model also boasts of a 25 per cent faster processor. Apart from that, Amazon has also added several features at the software level.
The new Kindle Paperwhite features a 6-inch Paperwhite display with Carta e-Paper technology and built-in light. The display boasts of better contrast and optimised font technology for better readbility. By default, the display offers pixel density of 212 pixels per inch and has 16-level gray scale. Weighing 206 grams, the new Kindle Paperwhite (2013) is 9.1 mm thick and can hold up to 1100 books in the 2 GB on-board storage.
Amazon has not specified the model number of the new processor but claimed that it is 25 per cent faster than the processors of its previous models. The Kindle Paperwhite (2013) also brings a new feature - Page Flip that allows skimming through the pages of a book in page-by-page manner. Amazon has also integrated the book lovers community service - Goodreads for connecting with other book lovers.
Vocabulary Builder automatically compiles the words into easy-to-use flash cards for better visual appeals. New Kindle FreeTime offers parents a tool for rewarding kids for reading and encourage them more. The Kindle Paperwhite (2013) will be offered in WiFi only and WiFi+3G options.
Amazon Kindle Paperwhite (2013) will be sold for $139 (Rs 9325 approximately) for WiFi only model while the WiFi+3G model will cost $189 (Rs 12,670 approximately). As of now, Amazon has not clarified about the availability of Kindle Paperwhite (2013) outside US.
