Is that a live photo of the Sony Xperia L4 and the Nokia phablet?

We stumbled upon a blurry image, which allegedly shows the Rumorland-resident Sony phablet going by the name of Xperia Togari (L4). There's also a Nokia phablet, which sources point could be named 1030 with perhaps a Lumia somewhere in the name too.

The photo allegedly shows the Sony Xperia L4 and Nokia Lumia 1030

The Togari could sport a 6.44" FullHD 1080p display and is supposed to be powered by a Snapdragon 800 processor. The following image compares the alleged live shot against a previously leaked image of an Xperia device's frame and there are obvious similarities.

Sony Xperia L4 compared to previous leak

As for the rather interesting-looking Nokia device - it sporting a Lumia-type body in cyan we see a large device which can fit three medium-sized Live tiles. This could be the Lumia phablet device Nokia's CEO himself has been mentioning.

The Nokia 1030 and Xperia Togari

Still the image looks highly untrustworthy given the presence of camera shake blur in the background and the lack of it in the Xperia L4 part of the image. Our gut tells us that it should be taken with more than the usual pinch of salt accompanying such images.

However, both prototypes pictured look quite plausible, so even if the image is fake there's an outside chance that it has been created by someone who has actually seen the devices in question.

Analyst: Samsung to sell 80 million Galaxy S4 in 2013

Samsung announced just a few days ago it has shipped 10 million Galaxy S4 units globally. It is an impressive milestone achieved in less than a month - two times better than the achievement of its predecessor.

RBC Capital Markets analyst Mark Sue predicts that the strong sales of the Samsung Galaxy S4 will continue to at least until the end of the year. He expects Samsung to sell 80 million units of its flagship in 2013, supports the claim with the continuing high demand in the US market and the already sold-out 32GB Black model (the White 32GB Galaxy S4 is yet to hit the shelves).

The Samsung Galaxy S4 momentum is far from over and Samsung is doing everything to maximize its potential. It has already announced the Galaxy S4 mini, but we expect the Galaxy S4 Active and Galaxy S4 Zoom smartphones to join the lineup very soon.

So it does seem quite possible for Samsung to sell 80 million Galaxy S4 devices by the end of this year, but only time will tell.

Sony Xperia Z to be available through a US carrier soon

At the All Things D D11 conference, Sony CEO Kaz Hirai confirmed that the Sony Xperia Z will be heading to a US carrier in the near future, although he didn't specify which carrier exactly.

The most likely candidate currently is T-Mobile, as leaked images of what is purportedly an Xperia Z with T-Mobile branding surfaced last month. The smartphone also got FCC approval with support for T-Mo's bands recently.

Of course, you can get the Xperia Z in the US even now, but you'll have to get its unlocked version directly from Sony directly for the hefty $629. So if you were looking to take advantage of lower on-contract pricing, this is great news.

Meanwhile, there's word that the Sony Xperia ZL, the Z's non-waterproof counterpart, will be heading to AT&T sometime soon.

Either way, we hope that Sony and the major US carriers make things happen sooner rather than later, as it's been almost three months since the devices became available in most other markets.

Thanks, Fady, for the tip!

Google keen on making BlackBerry apps

Google, the maker of Android operating system, is keen to offer more services and applications for the BlackBerry operating system. BlackBerry presently only has access to Gmail but the users surely want access to other Google services like Maps and Drive.

Sundar Pichai, senior vice president of Android and Chrome, revealed this during a talk show. "The only hurdle in the way is that the uptake of the new platform is slow and Google will only make dedicated applications if BlackBerry is able to get a substantial number of users aboard," he was quoted as saying at the show.

Google already has HTML5 version of most of its services which are available for different platforms and users can easily access these services through the web browser on their devices. But the dedicated application will only be made in the times to come.

The uptake of the BlackBerry 10 platform is on the rise as newer devices are making its way to more countries. BlackBerry itself is trying newer ways to revive the interest and with devices like the Q5 coming in the numbers are likely to increase considerably.

Huawei MediaPad 10 Link quad core tab available for Rs 24,990

Huawei MediaPad 10 Link tablet, which offers 10 inch display, quad core processor and 3G connectivity, is now available on pre-order from Flipkart. The tablet has been priced at Rs 24,990 and will start shipping in the first week of June.

Huawei MediaPad 10 Link is based on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system and has 1.2 GHz quad core processor, 16 core GPU (Huawei's own 1.2 GHz Hisilicon K3V2 Cortex-A9 Quad Core), 1GB RAM and 16 GB inbuilt memory. The tablet comes with a SIM slot and allows 3G connection at up to 42 Mbps speed, which is though not much of use in India as currently no service provider offers data connectivity at that speed. At present, it is not clear whether the tablet supports SIM calling or not. However, the tablet has WiFi , Bluetooth v3.0 and GPS .

The MediaPad 10 Link has a 10.1 inch IPS display with 1280 x 800 resolution. However in the camera space, the tablet is not strong as it has only 3 megapixel rear camera and a 0.3 megapixel front camera.

Huawei has put in a 6600 mAh Lithium Polymer battery in the tablet with a promised 8 hours internet browsing time on a single charge.

While it is one of the cheapest quad core tablet with 3G right now, but still we feel Huawei has priced the tablet slightly on the higher side, however, post launch there might be some price correction which will make it more affordable and desirable. The biggest issue with the tablet is that it comes from a brand that is not very well know, despite it being market leader in segments like dongles and telecom equipment.

Huawei Ascend W2 official photo surfaces, rumored to cost $290

Huawei's very first Windows Phone 8 smartphone, the Ascend W1, will soon turn 6 months old and by the looks of it, the company is looking to issue a refresh in the face of the Ascend W2.

With its specs entering rumorland last month, we got a basic idea of the Ascend W2's personality, but not of its looks. Today this changes, thanks to the popular leaks source, which has provided an official photo of the smartphone's front.

If the rumors turn out true, the Ascend W2 should pack a 4.3" HD display, 8MP camera with LED flash and 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 CPU with 1GB of RAM. Under the back cover reportedly resides a 2000mAh battery and the phone will come with a decent connectivity suite featuring of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and HSPA+ support.

The price of the Huawei Ascend W2 is suggested to be below the $300 mark, so it should be definitely on the list of Windows Phone 8 customers looking for an inexpensive update in the near future. Sadly, nobody knows exactly when the Ascend W2 would make it to the market.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini with dual-core processor, Super AMOLED display announced

Samsung has finally announced the much rumored Galaxy S4 Mini smartphone. This new Galaxy S4 Mini is a step down version of the Galaxy S4 and has similar design. The Galaxy S4 Mini will be offered in three variations - 3G Dual SIM , 3G HSPA+ ">HSPA+ and 4G LTE versions. Samsung is yet to announce the price and expected availability of the Galaxy S4 Mini smartphone.

The much rumored Galaxy S4 younger kin - Galaxy S4 mini features a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display with 960x540 pixel resolution natively. This display is powered by a dual-core 1.7 GHz mobile processor and 1.5 GB RAM. By default, this hardware will drive the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with a layer of Nature UX on top of it.

Galaxy S4 mini

Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini will feature an 8 megapixel camera at the back along with slew of special Samsung-added features to make the best of it. In the front lies a 1.9 megapixel camera for HD quality video chat. The rear camera supports variety of features like HDR, Sound and Shot, Panorama, Continous Shot and so on.

Galaxy S4 mini

Samsung has added the bunch of Samsung exclusive apps based services such as S Travel, S Health, S Voice, S Translator, Samsung Apps and more. Samsung has offered Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g/n 5.0 GHz), Bluetooth 4.0, GPS with GLONASS support, Near Field Communication (4G LTE only), and IR LED port.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini has an 8 GB on-board memory out of which 5 GB is available for the users and one can add up to 64 GB micro SD card. Samsung has added a 1900 mAh battery to make the phone run longer.

Galaxy S4 Active gets FCC certified, more S4 Zoom rumors

The Galaxy S4 mini was just made official and according to rumors there will be two more S4 family members joining the party soon – the Galaxy S4 Active and the Galaxy S4 Zoom.

The Galaxy S4 Active will be an IP57-certified version of the regular S4 – unlike the mini, it will pack almost the all of the high-end specs like a 5" Super AMOLED display with FullHD resolution, quad-core Snapdragon 600 chipset, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and LTE connectivity.

The main camera has been stepped down to 8MP, but the rest should be the same, a 2,600mAh battery, 16GB of built-in storage, microSD card slot, dual-band Wi-Fi and so on.

The AT&T version of the phone just passed FCC certification as the I537. While the FCC docs don't have a proper picture, these leaked images already revealed what the Active looks like.

The rumors continue with the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom. It's allegedly an S4 mini variant with the same 4.3" qHD Super AMOLED display, Android Jelly Bean, 8GB of storage and microSD card, 1,900mAh battery, but with a different processor clocked at 1.6GHz (presumably an Exynos 5 model). It's odd that the rumor states there won't be LTE connectivity on the S4 Zoom, as both the Galaxy Camera and Galaxy S4 mini have LTE.

Anyway, the camera is the headline feature of the Galaxy S4 Zoom – a 16MP shooter with 10x optical zoom. This is also the hardest to believe bit of the rumor, but we've heard the same thing in the past and we'll see what happens on June 20 when Samsung will announce new Galaxy and Ativ devices.

It is a WiFi only tablet but has an HDMI port. The tablet is available for Rs 6,990 which is almost the same as earlier version.

The sad part is that instead of upgrading the existing tablet which would have benefited the existing users as well, Lava has brought in a new version. Indian brands have off late started to roll-out updates, which even Lava did for Iris 501 smartphone, but they need to make it a regular practice in order to keep the existing buyers to stick to the brand.

Sony Xperia ZR coming to India in two weeks

Sony Xperia ZR is coming to India in next couple of weeks. The news is no big surprise as the phone got listed on Sony India website recently with the 'coming soon' tag. However now we have got the confirmation from a senior Sony executive.

However, the Sony official did not revealed its price tag but going by its features, the Xperia Z it is expected to cost around Rs 30,000.

Sony Xperia ZR coming to India

The biggest talking point of Sony Xperia XR is its ability to capture full HD videos underwater. The Android 4.2 based phone comes with a 4.6 inch HD Reality (Sony's display technology) display, 13 megapixel fast capture camera, Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core 1.5 GHz processor, and 4G LTE .

The phone features Sony's "Exmor RS for mobile" image sensor with HDR (High Dynamic Range) for both photos and videos, what is also special is the fact that to click a picture you do not need to unlock the phone.

Sony Xperia ZR is packed to brim with Sony's own proprietary technology like Walkman, OptiContrast display panel, which claims to offer reduced reflections and provides clearer viewing.

Sony will also include Sony Music with 1.5 million songs and also Sony Liv which offers Sony entertainment channels on the phone as well as videos of shows from past.

Samsung to adopt new design for mobiles

Samsung is working towards adopting a new and dynamic design for its mobile devices. The whole idea behind the new design is to make the differentiate Samsung devices from other products in the market. As reported (http://www.koreaherald.com/view.php?ud=20130529001100) Samsung held a strategy meeting specifically focused on the new design to be adopted for the devices.

To bring about clear differentiation in design Samsung will have to adopt an out of the box design as most of the designing techniques have already been implemented by companies and device manufacturers across the globe. Samsung Galaxy range of devices today offer more or less similar design characteristics and differentiation between various products form Samsung's portfolios itself is a bit difficult. For instance the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 has striking resemblance to the Samsung Galaxy tab and the Samsung Galaxy Grand resembles many devices coming from other manufacturers.

Samsung to adopt new design for mobiles

Clearly to differentiate the device Samsung will have to adopt a new manufacturing process with the use of new materials, perhaps metal for instance can be a great new addition. Devices today already are getting super slim and lightweight and there is only so much, designers can do to improve the design in that aspect.

Now with Samsung focusing on the design aspect called Design 3.0, the Korean company is aiming to not only improving the outside look of the devices but enhancing their usability as well.

New Gmail Inbox facelift due in next few weeks

Google has announced a new Gmail Inbox user interface which is to be released in coming months for both mobile as well as desktop platforms. The new Gmail Inbox user interface focuses on integrating the mail, social updates, deals and offers, notifications and more under the tabbed experience. More like category, tabs will enable automatic email sorting to make the Gmail Inbox more robust and organised.

Gmail app for the Android and the iOS platform will be revamped through a new update that can be expected in next few weeks. Google has been struggling to get the native Gmail app working for the Apple iOS based device. Apparently, the new Gmail Inbox design seems to be inspired from the existing Gmail app for iOS.

The new Gmail Inbox will basically bring four category tabs - Primary (inbox), Social, Promotions and Updates. Thankfully, Gmail will offer an option to switch back to the original Gmail Inbox user interface just in case the user is not happy or comfortable with the new options.

Each of these four category tabs can be assigned a specific colour labels so that the user can easily identify the type or nature of the email. Now we really hope that the Gmail app also integrates some LED notification changes as well. That will allow several enthusiast Android users to set custom colour notifications for respective email category.

As usual, Google always offers the switch back option but we are not sure till how long. For instance, if a user wants to try out the upcoming Gmail Inbox UI after couple of months, there may not get switch back option. However, it is too early to judge on what Google has in mind.

The new Gmail Inbox will be pushed to users in phase-wise manner in coming few weeks from now.
