Sony pushes Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for Xperia S, SL and Acro S


Sony Mobile has rolled out updates for the Xperia S, Xperia SL and Xperia Acro S smartphones. The new maintenance release bundles Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update with several bug fixes related to camera, battery, apps & services, hardware, and user interface. These improvements are expected to make the said Xperia devices to deliver better performance.


The new Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for the Xperia S, Xperia SL and Xperia Acro S brings several tweaks and improvements through the system. In the hardware and user interface segment, users can now long press the home key to launch Google Now feature. Quick double-press shows the list of recently used apps. The volume up button responsiveness has also been improved.


The update is said to fix the white balance abnormality in the camera as well as full 1080p HD video recording issues. The quick launch button has been improved for instant launch. The Exchange Active Sync has been streamlined for the email settings when using it with encrypted set-up. Preferences of the third party apps remain intact even after a reboot and the 2G data connection would be more stable after the update. Proper notifications for low battery levels and the power consumption has been economised to offer longer battery life, claimed Sony.


The update will be rolled out in a phase-wise manner so it may take couple of weeks to be available for Indian consumers as well. As of now, there is no update on the list of devices to be getting Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update.
