Few days back The Mobile Indian had Trai l-processor" target="_blank">reported about Samsung's desire to use Intel's Atom-branded processors in its third generation Galaxy tablets. Now according to a report, Intel has agreed to supply its Atom processor for Samsung's third generation tablets.
The third generation Samsung tablets will be branded as Galaxy Tab 3 and is expected to be unveiled at the 2013 Computex conference during the first week of June in Taiwan.
"This is a win-win deal for both sides. Intel, which is trying to cut its heavy reliance on PC business, offered better pricing for Samsung that is shifting its focus toward tablets following its huge success in smartphones," a Samsung research staff at one of its local factories was quoted as saying by the Korea Times .
Meanwhile, CNET said that the upcoming Intel based Galaxy Tab will run Android 4.2.2 and sport a 1,280 x 800 display.
Earlier, Galaxy Tablets came with several screen sizes so the third generation tablets is also expected to come in many display versions including 7 inch and 10 inch.
Earlier, a GLBenchmark result pointed out a Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 tablet with 10.1 inch screen. This tablet is said to be running on Intel Atom Z2760 "Clovertrail" mobile processor clocked at 1.6 GHz and will technically offer 10 hours of usage time.
The Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 GT-P5210 tablet was spotted running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and was codenamed Santos. This tablet is said to have 1280x800 pixel resolution natively. Now this is something different Samsung might be trying out with Intel since not many x86 architecture based Android tablets have really taken off in the market.
However, no official word has been issued by either Samsung or Intel about the deal.
