Sony Xperia C3 goes on sale, Russia is first to get it

The Sony Xperia C3, announced by Sony last month, and is touted as the first selfie-centric device from the Japanese manufacturer that comes with a 5MP front-facing camera and a wide range of social media extras.

Today we learn that the smartphone is going on sale in its first market, Russia, at a price of RUB 13,990 (around €290). Given that smartphones are generally more expensive in Russia than in most European markets, you can expect the handset to go even lower as it sets on its road to the West.

The Sony Xperia C3's front-facing shooter is of the wide angle variety, boasting 25mm with an 80-degree field of view and even has a LED flash next to it for low-light shooting. Special shooting options such as double-tapping on the rear panel or smile detection can automatically take the photo, and there's also support for HDR.

To keep the Sony Xperia C3 easy on your wallet, the chipset is of the lower mid-range Snapdragon 400 variety, featuring a quad-core 1.2GHz CPU alongside Adreno 305 graphics and 1GB of RAM.

The 5.5-inch LCD is has 720p resolution, but the good news is Android 4.4 is available of the box and there's an ample 2,500mAh battery, too.
