Brazilian prices for Motorola Moto X+1 and Moto G2 leak

The upcoming Motorola duo is getting priced around the world, now Brazil has chimed in. Someone managed to sneak a photo of an inventory system, which puts the Moto G2 at BRL 999 and the Moto X+1 at BRL 1,499.

In dollars and euro the Moto G2 price works out to $445/€340. We've heard much lower prices elsewhere - €250 in Europe and as low as INR 13,000 in India (equivalent to €165).

Keep in mind that Brazil has some hefty taxes on electronics, especially ones not manufactured locally (Google sold off the Brazilian and Chinese factories back in 2012). An Apple iPad gets as much as 55% markup after taxes.

Anyway, the Moto X+1 price is set at $670/€505. The Moto X last year was priced at BRL 1,499 (it has come down since), while the Moto G2 was BRL 650.

Prices for the Moto X+1 and Moto G2 in Brazil

The Moto X+1 will deliver a hefty spec increase compared to the original Moto X. It will have a 5.2" 1080p screen, Snapdragon 801 chipset and a 13MP camera with 2160p video capture.

The Moto G2 will also improve on its predecessor, with a 5" 720p screen and 8MP camera but will keep the Snapdragon 400 chipset. The G2 is listed as "Motorola G2 XT1069 Colors", suggesting there will be multiple color options.

Google to hold an event in India on September 15

Google announced it is holding an event on September 15 in India after sending out press invites. The event is happening on Monday at 12AM with Google saying that more details will be revealed as the date draws near.

The company is likely going to reveal its detailed plans for the Android One program. Announced at Google I/O this year, the program includes phone makers Karbonn, Micromax and Spice as the first to take part.

When revealing Android One, Sundar Pichai said that Google wants to take the wheel on the user experience in the entry-level segment. As a result, the phones under the Android One initiative will come with almost stock Android software.

However, the title "Block the date" is intriguing as we think it suggests the event will also touch upon the Google Ara project. Ara was initially developed by Motorola, but following the Lenovo deal to acquire the company, Google said it will keep Project Ara for itself.

The Ara smartphones will have removable modules that will let you replace or upgrade specific parts of the device. The event is going to be interesting for sure, so don't forget the mark down the date.

Alleged HTC Desire 820 leaks sporting a Snapdragon 615 chipset

HTC has been teasing its Desire 820 device on China's Weibo network for much of last month, including the revelation that it'll be the first device to sport Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 615 chipset, which is set to run on a 64-bit architecture.

Now, the device has been thoroughly pictured ahead of its expected IFA announcement on Thursday. Keep in mind that the leaked images look eerily like the Desire 816, so take this with more than the usual grain of salt.

Besides sporting four 1.8GHz cores and four 1.0GHz cores - both of the new Cortex-A53 variety - the new Snapdragon 615 chipset will also feature the latest generation Adreno 405 GPU.

The 5.5-inch device will have a rather disappointing screen of 720p resolution, but will make up for it with a 13MP/8MP camera combo, 2,600mAh battery, 8GB of storage, and 1.5GB RAM.

Meanwhile, HTC also announced another 64-bit-capable smartphone recently, the Desire 510. The Desire 510 is decidedly the less robust of the two, with a quad-core chip and 4.7-inch screen. For more on the Desire 510, check our comprehensive hands-on.

Upcoming Gionee Elife S5.1 is the world's slimmest phone

We first heard about the Gionee Elife S5.1 via its TENAA certification in July. It's a new intriguing smartphone with 4.8" AMOLED 720p display, a quad-core processor and 8MP camera. We even got a glimpse of its design.

Today we have something better - a plethora of live images with detailed specs. Apparently the Gionee Elife S5.1 isn't the company's next flagship, instead it is going after the world's thinnest phone title. The Elife S5.1 will come in the incredibly thin 5.1mm shell, quite similar to Elife S5.5 flagship and utilizing both glass and metal.

Gionee Elife S5.1 • specs sheet

The Elife S5.1 packs a 4.8" AMOLED display of 720p resolution and runs on the Snapdragon 400 chipset with a quad-core 1.2GHz Cortex-A7 processor, Adreno 305 GPU and 1GB of RAM. The rest of the specs include an 8MP rear camera, 16GB non-expandable storage, LTE connectivity, and 2,100 mAh battery.

Gionee Elife S5.1

Gionee GN9005 Elife S5.1 should be running on Android 4.3 + Amigo 2.0 proprietary launcher.

With all these leaks going on, we bet the official announcement should be just around the corner.

Thank you, Claudiu Sima, for the tip!

Sony SmartWatch 3 and SmartBand Talk leak prior to IFA

A photo of the upcoming Sony SmartWatch 3 and SmartBand Talk have leaked prior to their official unveiling at IFA 2014 in a few days.

The Sony SmartWatch 3 will feature a 1.68" display with a 320x320 pixel resolution. It'll have IP58 certification under its strap and run Android Wear instead of regular Android with a Sony skin on top.

As for the SmartBand Talk, it features a curved e-ink display and Bluetooth connectivity. The fitness tracker wearable should also be able to alert of phone notifications, but no further details are available at this point.

But that's not all, as the company also teased we're about to go into deep waters with its latest products. On its UK Twitter account, Sony says it will "be getting deep at IFA". Its promo image suggests its upcoming devices will all be able to go even deeper than 2m. Current Xperia phones can only survive a dive of up to a 1.5m.

Sony's IFA 2014 press conference is scheduled for September 4, so stay tuned to get splashed with the company's latest waterproof products.

New Moto X+1 images leak, confirm some design details

Two new images of the upcoming Moto X+1 have surfaced, courtesy of TK Tech News.

The latest images show the front and back of the phone. Along the front we see the loudspeaker below the display as on the Moto E but it's not sure if the one above the display is a second loudspeaker or just the earpiece. There are also the four sensors in the four corners of the phone similar to the Amazon Fire but their functionality remains a mystery.

On the back we see the camera with an oversized Motorola logo. The logo is actually a power button, which explains its side. The ring around the camera lens has a flash built into it.

The picture shows the phone with a wood finish back and aluminum frame around the side. The source says the phone will be available in multiple material options for the back, including plastic, wood, leather, denim, and even a carbon fiber option that will apparently be exclusive to Verizon.

Motorola event is slated for September 4, which is just three days away from now. We should find out more then.
