A new Android smartphone of Sony, named as Xperia M, is now available in India for Rs 12,990. Infibeam, on which it is listed, has though mentioned on the page that it would be available on August 18 and that the shipping time is 1-2 days, so if you pre-order it now then you can get this handset by August 20.
It comes with a 4 inch screen which has 854x480 pixels resolution. The display is said to be scratch resistant. Though it comes with only a 1 GHz dual core Qualcomm processor, it has the latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system. However, it has healthy 1 GB RAM that should be sufficient to run most of the applications including games available right now on Google Play store.
The Sony Xperia M comes with a 5 megapixel autofocus rear camera with 4x digital zooming facility. It has also a VGA camera in the front. The 9.3 thick Xperia M has micro USB 2.0, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi (with hotspot capability), DLNA , GPS ">AGPS, FM radio, and NFC .
The Xperia M, which weighs just 115 grams, comes with a decent 1750 mAh Li-Ion battery that claims to provide 10 hours and 18 minutes of talktime. It is also a Playstation certified smartphone and comes in black, purple, white and yellow colours. It comes with a single SIM slot.
